Special Education Teacher (Grades 712)
Job Location Cedarhurst NY

Position Overview: The school in Cedarhurst NY is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher for grades 712. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing tailored educational services to students with diverse learning needs ensuring a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that fosters growth and success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to meet the unique needs of each student.
  • Adapt and modify curriculum materials to accommodate students learning styles and abilities.
  • Use a variety of instructional strategies to engage students and enhance their academic social and emotional development.
  • Monitor and assess student progress regularly adjusting instruction and interventions as necessary.
  • Collaborate with other teachers support staff and parents to create a cohesive and supportive educational experience for students.
  • Maintain accurate and uptodate records of student progress attendance and other required documentation.
  • Foster a positive respectful and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student engagement and learning.
  • Participate in IEP meetings parentteacher conferences and other relevant school events or meetings.
  • Stay informed of best practices and new developments in special education through ongoing professional development.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Special Education or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Valid New York State certification in Special Education for grades 712.
  • Experience working with students with diverse learning needs including those with autism learning disabilities and behavioral challenges.
  • Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues parents and other stakeholders.
  • Patience creativity and a genuine passion for working with students with special needs.
