Job Title: Safety Manager

Location: Pataskala, OH and Frazeysburg, OH

Salary: Starting at $80k; (Negotiable; Based upon experience)

Schedule: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm

Job Description:

Candidate must have experience and passion for Safety. The Safety Manager develops, implements, and leads safety initiatives to create and maintain a safety driven culture. Plans and manages the general health & safety policies and procedures of the organization. Monitors and evaluates the workplace to ensure compliance with governmental regulatory agencies. Designs and directs safety training programs to reduce accidents, occupational illnesses, and exposure to long-term health hazards. Develops worker plans and policies for new employee safety orientation including skill training, emergency preparedness, proper job instruction, hazardous material disposal procedures, and the use of protective equipment. Studies, identifies, and reports causes of past accidents and develops recommendations and follow-up to prevent accident recurrences.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

1. Responsible for overall company compliance with federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to environmental, health, safety (including PSM), and security regulations.

2. Responsible for developing EHS strategies to continuously improve EHS programs to meet and exceed regulatory requirements and customer expectations and delivers on the safety culture vision of "safety in everything we do."

3. Responsible for providing technical expertise to all key business functions including Engineering, HR, Maintenance, Operations, Shipping & Receiving, and Sales.

4. Administer the plant hazard communication program, including maintaining up to date SDS's, effective identification of all chemicals, chemical inventory and related training and education programs.

5. Evaluate, schedule and conduct EHS training programs

6. Ensures completion of required OSHA recordkeeping and reporting. Stays up to date on all OSHA regulations and requirements.

7. Review and develop risk assessments and safe operating procedures for all tasks and investigate all safety incidents and near misses.

8. Develop and implement audit programs to review and assure compliance with applicable health and safety standards.

9. Spend time on the production floor, soliciting information, feedback, and answer questions for employees; auditing or assessing workstations and work environments, suggest ideas for improvement.

10. Monitor Worker’s Compensation Claim Management and Return to Work Program

11. Technical writing of EHS programs, policies and procedures

12. Act as a first responder and lead the company’s multi-site safety team.

Minimum Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each primary duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The qualifications listed below are representative of the minimum knowledge, skill, and/or abilities required. 1. Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Health & Safety Management or Chemical Engineering or related field.

2. At least 10 years of experience preferable in a manufacturing facility.

3. Proven track record of successful EHS compliance and culture improvement.

4. Must have strong verbal and written communications, excellent organizations skills and attention to detail is required. 

5. Knowledge of company safety, OSHA and department policies and procedures.

6. Emergency response to include certification in CPR/AED and First Aid

7. Ability to be self-motivated
