This Registered Nurse (RN) position focuses on providing skilled nursing care to patients in a medical-surgical and telemetry unit. The RN will perform patient assessments, administer medications, participate in treatment planning, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team. Experience with various medical conditions and equipment is required. Floating between similar units within the scope of practice is expected.

Responsibilities:
- Performing patient assessments and monitoring vital signs.
- Administering medications and treatments as ordered.
- Developing and implementing patient care plans.
- Collaborating with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
- Managing various medical equipment (e.g., SCD pump, Bear Hugger, wound vac, tube feeding pump).
- Interpreting and managing dysrhythmias.
- Utilizing rapid response teams.
- Performing peripheral line care and management.
- Providing respiratory support (nasal cannula, oxygen masks, portable oxygen tanks).
- Implementing non-invasive airway management and isolation precautions.
- Charting patient information in Epic.
- Assisting with PICC and central line care (as needed).
Required Skills & Certifications:
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of employment.
- BLS certification.
- Minimum of one year of hospital experience (first-timers accepted).
- Proficiency in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias.
- Skill in managing various medical equipment (as listed above).
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with a variety of patient diagnoses (e.g., acute kidney injury, sepsis, COVID-19, alcohol withdrawal).
- Experience with Epic EHR (preferred).
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Two or more years of experience in medical-surgical or telemetry nursing.
- Experience with central lines and PICC lines.
Special Considerations:
- Evening shifts have a 5:1 patient-to-nurse ratio (stretching to 6:7), while night shifts have a 6:7 to 1 ratio (stretching to 8:9).
- Patient care technicians (PCTs) assist with vital signs, blood glucose checks, EKGs, and activities of daily living.
- An in-house phlebotomy team performs peripheral lab draws.
- Floating between similar units within the scope of practice is required.
- Weekend work is required every other weekend (EOW).
- No on-call requirements.
- 75-mile radius rule for local applicants. Pending licenses are not accepted.
- RTO (return to original location) restrictions should be kept close to one week.
Scheduling:
- Shift type: Evening and night shifts.
- Ratio: 5:1 to 8:9 patient-to-nurse ratio depending on shift.
- Weekend requirement: Every other weekend.
- Block scheduling will be considered but is not guaranteed.
