CATEGORY MANAGEMENT

Full Time Produce Category Manger / Buyer, La Crosse, WI :   Kwik Trip, Inc. is currently looking for a skilled Category Manger/Buyer who will develop and execute category plans for his/her assigned categories that deliver maximum results for our stores, operations, and the company. The Category Manger/Buyer is the primary person behind manufacturer relationships and is responsible for developing and maintaining high effective strategic alliances with suppliers for mutual benefit. This person will work closely with retail, product development, production, marketing, price book, merchandising, and operations to make sure Kwik Trip is  procuring, pricing, placing, and promoting the right products effectively and profitably.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Be aware of new products and programs available within the category. Be the “go to” expert for Kwik Trip for the assigned product categories purchased for inventory at the Distribution Center, which may include products/supplies/packaging for production, support center, operations, store engineering, etc. depending on the product category.
• Negotiate (procure)with suppliers to obtain the best deal for Kwik Trip including but not limited to: FOB price, freight, marketing assistance, coop advertising, support for stores and Kwik Trip events, etc.
• Optimize warehouse inventory, assuring high level fill rate to the stores.
• Provide category insights and assortment direction to support merchandising and development of store planograms (placement).
• Provide category insights on retail pricing and analysis to set prices that maximize sales and obtain budgeted gross profit dollars and margins (price) .
• Provide category insights on marketing initiatives (promote).
• Conduct product assortment review and analysis in order to recommend changes/actions to enhance category effectiveness and performance.
• Produce experience is preferred 

 

Qualifications: Candidates must have a High School Diploma or GED, and category management/buying experience is preferred. Candidates must also possess the following: strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills; financial acumen; exercise sound judgment within company guidelines; follow company policies; prioritize and manage multiple tasks; meet deadlines; ability to motivate others and effectively negotiate with vendors; proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel; SAP experience beneficial; attention to detail and accuracy; team player; self-motivated. 

Candidate must be willing to live in close proximity to La Crosse, WI .

 

Work Schedule : Typically Monday through Friday, daytime hours, average of 45 hours per week. Salaried position.
