General Summary
Perform activities which ensure the safety of and provide protection and related services to the campus community including programs in law enforcement, community policing, health and safety, parking and traffic, crime prevention and suppression and in-service training.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Minimum Qualifications:
Possession of a valid Driver's license is required.
Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards Training Certification, or certifiable status is required. Prior experience as a campus or police officer experience is preferred. Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills are required. Ability to respond quickly to emergency situations which may not be familiar is required. Ability to work under pressure, occasionally for long periods of time, is required. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays is required. Ability to work with appropriate safety related gear including a bullet proof vest, firearms, handcuffs, etc. is required. Ability to physically and mentally perform the essential duties of the job is required. Ability to effect and arrest and subdue and search suspects and prisoners is required. Ability to drive department vehicles is required.Preferred Qualifications:
Basic knowledge of computers is preferred.
