Summary:
The Student Conduct Officer is a part-time position responsible for addressing student behavioral matters and potential violations of the student code of conduct and other University policies. This individual will work closely with students, parents, and all stakeholders to foster educational outcomes in complex matters. Efforts will support the mission of the University and the goals of the Division of Student Affairs. This is a part-time position, serving from August 2024 – June 2025. Applicants interested in working remotely during traditional business hours will be considered.
Job Description:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide professional support to the Office of Student Conduct by administering and upholding the University's student conduct procedures and policies, which includes enforcing student conduct actions, administering sanctions, responding to crises, inputting and maintaining data in the University's student conduct tracking system, and serving as a key member of the Student Conduct team.
- Coordinate student conduct actions and sanctions with campus partners, including Housing and Residence Life, Deans, University Counsel, Campus Safety, etc.
- Facilitate formalized training, programs, and presentations regarding student conduct policies and processes, conflict resolution, disciplinary procedures, and other student-related matters.
- Administer conduct review meetings, hearings, and educational meetings in accordance with the University's student code of conduct for students and organizations; assign sanctions and issue no-contact directives and campus bans; address campus conflicts and other student-related conduct concerns.
- Assist with marketing and promotion of the office’s initiatives.
- Provide administrative support to the office, including case management and follow-up for all cases.
- Construct and assess student learning outcomes for all programs and services.
- Serve as a Responsible Employee for Title IX and Campus Security Authority (CSA) for the Clery Act.
- Perform miscellaneous job-related duties and projects as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Extensive knowledge of the Lynn University Student Code of Conduct and University Policies will be expected upon hire.
- Knowledge and understanding of the management of higher education student conduct systems and policies.
- Ability to conduct investigations and hearings, including meeting with students to discuss reported behavioral concerns.
- Knowledge of crisis intervention and advocacy principles and practices.
- Ability to work with highly complex and challenging student situations.
- Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, staff, and parents, as well as a wide range of partners in a diverse community.
- Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills.
- Ability to develop and present educational programs and/or workshops.
- Ability to evaluate and make recommendations for change in policy development.
Minimum Qualifications
- The Office of Student Conduct seeks a high energy, student-centered professional who is ambitious, innovative, forward-thinking and works well on a team. For consideration, this individual must minimally possess the following:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required.
- A Master’s degree in Higher Education or equivalent preferred;
- Must possess diplomacy, tact, and the ability to manage confidential student information with discretion.
- Demonstrated excellence in written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proven commitment to diversity and equal opportunity as well as the wellness, academic, intellectual, emotional, and social development of all students.
- Knowledge of and the ability to implement student development theory. Previous experience working in a university Student Conduct office preferred.
- Experience working with conduct database software, such as Maxient, is preferred but not minimally required.
