Cost Accountant Job Description
Empirical Systems Aerospace, Inc. is seeking a Cost Accountant to join our finance department. ESAero is a growing aerospace company in the San Luis Obispo area and provides various services which include but are not limited to: rapid system development, on-demand niche engineering, hands-on development/testing, and small UAS aerospace system manufacturing.
**This position is fully on-site at Empirical System's Aerospace in San Luis Obispo, CA
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Proposal Review
- Inventory adjustments and transfers and billing
- Invoicing capitalized labor
- Cost accounting to include manufacturing costing and job costing
- Monthly journal entries
- Reconciliations of item fulfilments/inventory/end of project material transfers
- Liaise with operations and project management functions for accurate tracking of inventory and assist with periodic physical inventory counts.
- Ensure accurate reporting of inventory balances on the general ledger and the trial balance
- Support PM's/PA's/Project Accountant
- Logistics support
- Project Set-ups
Required Qualifications and Skills: - 2+ Years Accounting Experience in Manufacturing Environment
- Experience with ERP
- BS in Accounting or Finance required
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite, with strong Excel skills
- Extreme attention to detail
- Understanding of business accounting principles as well as basic auditing principles in relation to inventory balances
- Understanding of basic contracting principles (government and commercial)
- Familiarity with DCAA compliance a plus
