Housing Works fights for funding and legislation to ensure that all people living with HIV/AIDS have access to quality housing, healthcare, HIV prevention, and treatment, among other lifesaving services.

Compensation Range: $23/hr - $26/hr commensurate with experience

Overview

The Auction Manager is responsible for driving sales via online auctions being sold on the auction.housingworks.org website and/or third-party websites. The Auction Manager will train and develop auction personnel to assist in the evaluation and curation of product donations in an effort to maximize online sales. The Auction Manager will partner with the Lead Curator, the Marketing Team, the Development Team and Store Teams to identify business opportunities and risks.

Primary

Responsibilities:

  • Drive sales and profitability via the online auctions.
  • Oversee all auction installations and de-installations, ensuring all auction windows are visually appealing and within brand standards.
  • Train and develop the auction team to effectively curate and theme auctions for maximum revenue.
  • Ensure auction items are evaluated properly, ensuring appropriate research is done and online descriptions accurately and appropriately describe the item/product.
  • Ensure that all online inquiries and customer service issues are responded to within our corporate brand standards and customer service policies and procedures.
  • Analyze merchandise performance at the category and item level and report on sales trends.
  • Monitor and report on weekly and monthly performance to sales, inventory targets, and productivity goals.
  • Ability to think strategically and recommend a course of action based on analysis and trends.
  • Ensure data integrity in all sales and shipping records of auction items.
  • Responsible for recruiting, interviewing, hiring, on-boarding, and training of employee and volunteers, ensuring understanding and compliance to standards, organizational goals and direction; including conducting progressive counseling as necessary.

  • Work with administrative team on special events and promotions, offering both visual merchandising and product knowledge support.

  • Preserve positive work-atmosphere by communicating with coworkers, volunteers, supervisors and customers/donors cordially and effectively.
  • Participate in at least one direct action per quarter aimed at ending the twin crises of homelessness and HIV/AIDS.
